Dumbbells are a great piece of equipment to add to your home workout gear, they are free weights which can be used as a pair or as an individual. The biggest benefit of dumbbells is that you isolate muscle groups on both sides of your body which helps with getting more toned.

Don’t worry there is no need to go out and buy a whole rack that you see at the gym- your weights can progress with you as your fitness and strength improves. For us ladies I recommend getting two sets of dumbbells. The 2kg is a great for the upper body and the 4kg is a great starting point for lower body. I also recommend getting neoprene dumbbells as pictured below as they are nicer on the hands, your floors and they also come in fun colors!

Why Am I Gaining Weight!!??
You may notice an increase on the scales through the lifting of the weights. Weighing yourself is a fruitless task actually so a great guide to your progress is how do you feel? Is your energy levels good? Do you feel good about yourself? Are you sleeping better? Is your stress levels lower? These are the metrics that we want to pay attention to and are the metrics that are going to give us a long term sense of health and feeling well.
